♻️ Waste & Recycling Collection

Updated January 2026 β€” New contractor Miller Waste now in effect

πŸ“’ Important Change β€” January 1, 2026

Blue & black bin recycling is now managed by Circular Materials and collected by Miller Waste Services. The City of Ottawa no longer handles your recycling bins. Your collection day stays the same but the truck and timing may differ. The City still handles garbage, green bin, and leaf & yard waste.

⚠️ March 30, 2026: About half of Ottawa households received a new collection day under the City's new curbside contract. Check the City calendar below to confirm your day.

πŸ”΅ Blue Bin

Collector: Miller Waste
Paper, cardboard, rigid plastics, glass, metal. New 2026: plastic bags, toothpaste tubes, deodorant, black plastic, beverage cups.

⬛ Black Bin

Collector: Miller Waste
Mixed recyclables & packaging. See CircularMaterials.ca/Ottawa for the full accepted materials list.

🟒 Green Bin

Collector: City of Ottawa
Food scraps & organics. Missed? Call 3-1-1.

🟀 Leaf & Yard Waste

Collector: City of Ottawa
Brown paper bags or labelled reusable containers β€” not in green bin.

Put bins out by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Not collected by 6 pm? Call 3-1-1 (garbage / green bin) or Miller Waste (recycling).
