TACKLE TRAFFIC CONGESTION
Our roads are at capacity. Real investments for roads Ward 6 families use every single day.
Widen Carp Road and Iber/Huntmar Road
Carp Road and Iber Road/Huntmar Road are operating beyond their intended capacity. Widening these corridors is not a nice to have. It is overdue. I will push for the funding and approvals needed to get this done.
Add a Huntmar Road Exit to Highway 417
Residents in the west end of the ward travel out of their way just to access the highway. Adding a dedicated exit from Huntmar Road to the 417 would dramatically cut commute times and take pressure off every other intersection in the area.
Speed Monitoring and Traffic Calming Where It Is Needed
Abbott Street, Cope Road, and several other residential areas have a speeding problem that puts children and seniors at risk. I will push for automated speed monitoring devices, speed slowing infrastructure, and real enforcement wherever residents tell us it is needed.
New Road Connections in Growing Neighbourhoods
As new subdivisions continue to be built, they need road connections that match. I will advocate for new connections in growing areas so residents are not trapped funnelling through a single route every morning.
Secure Transportation Funding in the City Budget
Good intentions mean nothing without a budget line. I will work to ensure Ward 6 transportation projects are secured with dedicated funding in the city budget, not shuffled into a future year and forgotten.
Hold Developers Responsible for Road Infrastructure
New housing means more traffic. Developers who are building in Ward 6 need to be part of the solution. I will work to ensure road infrastructure is built alongside new homes, not years after residents move in.
TRANSIT SOLUTIONS THAT ACTUALLY WORK
If transit does not go where you need it, when you need it, it does not exist.
Better OC Transpo Service Frequencies
A bus every thirty minutes is not transit. It is wishful thinking. I will advocate loudly for improved service frequencies so that taking the bus is a real, practical option for Ward 6 residents going about their daily lives.
Better Connections to Employment Areas
Many Ward 6 residents commute to major employment areas across Ottawa. Mani will push for transit connections that actually serve these corridors without unnecessary transfers or long waits. Where OC Transpo cannot fill the gap, he will advocate for third party transit solutions.
Third Party Service Partnerships Where It Makes Sense
In some lower density areas, running a full OC Transpo bus route is simply not cost effective. A full size bus costs over $500 a day to operate and in some areas serves only a handful of riders. Partnering with third party on demand services like Uber can deliver faster, more flexible coverage at lower cost. I will advocate for pilot programs where this approach makes practical sense for residents.
Resident Feedback in Transit Planning
Transit decisions should not happen in a boardroom without Ward 6 at the table. I will gather resident feedback on routes, schedules, and gaps, and present that directly to OC Transpo and transit planners so our community's needs are heard.
TRANSFORMING INFRASTRUCTURE
Stittsville's new subdivisions have gone up fast and dense, and roads, schools, and services haven't kept pace. Developers have been getting away with it for too long. The free ride is over.
Build Infrastructure First
Before any new construction begins, builders must complete 75% of required road safety, parks, schools, and community infrastructure. Fall short? Work stops. That is not a threat. That is the new standard.
Penalties That Actually Hurt
Developers who miss infrastructure commitments will face financial penalties. Those funds go directly back into community development, not into legal delays. We close the loopholes they rely on.
Developer Accountability Dashboard
A public online tracker showing every builder's promises versus their actual delivery. Residents will know, before a shovel goes in the ground, which developers keep their word and which ones do not.
No More Housing Without Infrastructure
Zero new housing approvals until sufficient schools, roads, parks, water, and transit capacity are confirmed in writing. Not a promise. Not a plan. Confirmed and funded.
Schools, Parks, and Community Facilities in Every Approval
Development approvals must include binding commitments for schools, parks, roads, and community facilities. These are not extras. They are requirements. Every approval, every time.
Mixed Housing for Better Affordability
A healthy community needs more than one type of housing. I will promote a mix of housing types in new developments to create neighbourhoods where more families can actually afford to live and stay.
Negotiate Community Benefits from Major Developments
When a major development is approved in Ward 6, the community should get something tangible in return. I will negotiate community benefit agreements that deliver real value, including green space, recreation, and local services, as part of every major project.
I know how developers work. I know the loopholes, the promises made, and the ones quietly forgotten. As your councillor, I will use that inside knowledge to write stronger bylaws, demand enforceable commitments, and vote NO on any project that asks our community to absorb growth before it is ready.
RESTORING TRUST IN CITY HALL
Ward 6 has been ignored for too long. That changes on October 26, 2026.
Monthly Townhalls: A Councillor Who Actually Listens
Mani will hold a Townhall every month where residents can share concerns, issues, and ideas, and get updates on action taken for issues already reported. He will also push the City to publish audited reports on a regular basis. Your voice is not a formality. It is the foundation of every decision.
Transparent Budgeting and Fiscal Accountability
Every tax dollar will be accounted for and reported publicly. Mani will publish a plain language annual ward report showing exactly where money was allocated, what was delivered, and what remains outstanding. No more budget surprises.
Zero Tolerance for Wasteful Spending
Mani will scrutinize every spending proposal. Eliminate programs that are not delivering value. Redirect savings to priority Ward 6 needs: roads, transit, and seniors services. Fiscal responsibility is not optional. It is a core commitment.
Senior Town Halls: Bringing City Hall to Our Seniors
Seniors built this community. They deserve a direct line to their councillor. Mani will hold quarterly town halls inside senior residences and retirement communities across Ward 6. Issues raised will be brought to council immediately, with no filters and no delays.
Binding Commitments, Not Just Promises
Every campaign promise Mani makes will be tracked publicly. Residents can hold him to account. At the halfway point and at the end of the term, he will publish a self assessment comparing promises made to outcomes delivered.
SAFETY, HEALTH, AND COMMUNITY
Safe streets, accessible services, and a community that genuinely looks after everyone in it.
Pedestrian and Cycling Safety
Every resident should feel safe walking or cycling in their own neighbourhood. I will push for new sidewalks, better crosswalks, bike lanes, and traffic calming measures where they are needed. I will also work to address speeding through road design changes and enforcement requests, and improve accessibility for seniors and people with disabilities.
Health Care Access
Health care is primarily a provincial responsibility, but that does not mean a councillor sits on the sidelines. I will support applications for new medical clinics in Ward 6, help identify municipal land that could host health facilities, and work directly with our provincial representatives to advocate for more health care resources for our growing community.
School Capacity
Portables are not a long term solution for a growing community. I will coordinate with local school boards on realistic growth projections, advocate for school sites to be reserved inside new developments before they are built out, and support transportation and safety improvements around every school in the ward.
Cost of Living
Residents are feeling the pressure of rising costs, and municipal spending matters. I will review where the city can operate more efficiently without cutting the services people rely on, support affordable housing initiatives, and look for practical savings that can ease the load on Ward 6 families.
AREAS OF WORK AND IMPROVEMENT
These come straight from the Your Concerns board, real topics raised door to door, by street residents, and shared directly by the community.
Density Tied to Infrastructure
High rise and dense development should not move ahead of the roads, water, and schools needed to support it. I will push for a completed infrastructure review before approval, every time.
A Ward Wide Traffic Plan
Residents are asking for one real plan across Ward 6, not a list of one off fixes. I will bring residents, city staff, and the councillor office together to build a single, trackable priority list.
Intersection and Corridor Safety
Abbott Road, Cope Road, Shea Road, Robert Grant Avenue, and Huntmar Road all come up often. I will request updated traffic counts, signal timing reviews, and safer crossings at the intersections residents raise most.
Cut Through Traffic and Speeding
Streets like Rosehill and Cope Road see drivers cutting through or speeding with little regard for safety. I will request speed studies, traffic calming measures, and turn restrictions where they are needed most.
Shared Path Safety
Electric bikes moving at high speed on shared paths is a genuine safety concern. I will look at what education, enforcement, and speed limit options exist to keep pedestrians and younger children safe.
Park and Ride Near Main Street
Residents want a park and ride located close to Main Street. I will bring this forward with OC Transpo and city planning as part of the wider transit conversation.
A Councillor Office That Actually Replies
Every resident deserves a response. I will commit to a clear turnaround time for constituent questions so nothing sent to my office goes unanswered.
Earlier Notice on Nearby Construction
Residents should be consulted before major construction begins next to them, not after. I will push for earlier and more meaningful notice on development applications that affect existing streets.
Environmental Review in Every Approval
Growth should not come at the expense of green space. I will make sure environmental impact is a real part of the conversation on every development application, not an afterthought.
Property Standards Enforcement
Overgrown grass and garbage left out affect the whole street. I will make sure residents know how to file a complaint and follow up so by law enforcement actually happens.
Equal Attention for Every Street
Every street in Ward 6 deserves the same level of attention, regardless of who lives there. I will be transparent about how priorities are set and make sure decisions are based on need.
SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS AND EVERYDAY SERVICES
New neighbourhoods should not have to drive across the ward for basic services. Growth needs to bring everyday businesses with it.
A Gas Station on Fernbank and Shea Road
Residents in this area should not have to drive out of the neighbourhood for fuel. I will raise this gap directly with city planning as part of the commercial zoning review for this growth area.
A Local Health Clinic: Physicians, Lab Tests, and Physiotherapy
Ward 6 needs more physicians and easier access to lab and blood test services as the population grows. I will support applications for a local clinic offering family physicians, lab testing, and physiotherapy, and help identify municipal land that could host it.
Everyday Businesses in Every New Neighbourhood
New development areas like Edenwylde need grocery, pharmacy, and other everyday businesses close by, not just homes. I will push for commercial space to be part of the plan from the start, not added years later.
City Contracted Carpooling Drivers
In lower density pockets where a full transit route is not practical, city contracted carpooling and shuttle drivers can fill the gap and connect residents to the services and transit hubs they actually need.
Local Emergency Help Professionals
A growing community needs paramedics, fire crews, and other emergency help professionals close by, not stretched thin across the whole ward. I will push for staffing and response times to keep pace with how fast Stittsville is growing.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
A strong councillor shows up, listens, and delivers. Every single term.
